Based on Shirley Jackson\u2019s novel, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and using a playful, primitive style of filmmaking, it presents Mitski playing a paranoid woman who is trying to protect her sister inside a gothic house while battling increasingly absurd, human obstacles. Produced and engineered by Patrick Hyland and mastered by Bob Weston, the album continues the musical through line established with 2023\u2019s The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, and features live instrumentation by The Land touring band and ensemble arrangements.
