Intelligent Scene Detection
Radiant Photo automatically detects the type of scene—landscape, portrait or otherwise—and adjusts the image accordingly, directly after loading the image in Radiant Photo. For each scene it recognises, Radiant Photo 2 offers a unique selection of Develop Settings for different editing styles. Users can then get deeper into editing, using our pro-level editing tools and creative color grading tools to achieve the perfect image look.
Exposure
Have you ever tried to push the Exposure slider to the right in other editing software? It will completely blow out the highlights of the image. Not in Radiant Photo, though. Because the software analyzes photos pixel by pixel and understands the scene, it can adjust every area of the image as needed. No global adjustments as with most other software and their “one size fits all” presets, but enhancements specifically tailored for your scene and challenges in the photograph.
Light Diffusion
In the studio, we can create the light as we want it. But outside, we are dependent on what the sun gives us. How about a softbox for the sun? That is what our Light Diffusion slider does: even out harsh exposures for a more balanced look. This is one of these adjustments that have no flashy effect. But in our opinion, small changes to an image’s tone and color go a long way. The devil lies in the details—and those details make or break a photo.
Color Fidelity
Even when we don’t touch any color slider, just by adjusting exposure and contrast, the perception of colors shifts. Suddenly, the blue of the sky looks way too cyan, or the green grass just looks neonly unnatural. Enter “Color Fidelity”, a feature unique to Radiant Photo. Dial it in, and it will bring out the natural colors of the image. It is like revisiting the scene, looking at what the true colors are and adjusting the image accordingly. In dark areas that have been brightened too much, Color Fidelity will also bring back more depth from the original scene.
Split Color Warmth
With our Selective Color tools, it is very easy to adjust specific colors in tone, saturation and brightness. In addition to that, Split Color Warmth lets you target the cool and the warm areas of your photo independently from each other. So you could say: Make cool areas cooler and warm areas warmer—this often works great for cityscapes at night. Or you create a more creative image by warming up the cool parts and cooling down the warm parts.
Portrait Tools
The new subject-aware Portrait tools feature 10-level skin tone detection, as well as depth and automatic color cast corrections, providing users with unprecedented control over balancing their subjects’ lighting and color representation. Additionally, Radiant Photo detects faces, and offers tools to bring out the natural beauty in a subtle way, including skin smoothing, eye enhancements, teeth whitening and many more. The tools are designed to visually enhance the photo without overdoing it. But yes, by tearing sliders too far to the right, you can overdo it manually.
Eye and Skin Enhancements
It is truly amazing, what a difference a quick portrait edit can make in your people shots. Bring out the eyes by brightening and sharpening them. Getting rid of dark circles under the eyes. Deal with unwanted shine on the skin. Sharpen the lips to give your model more presence in the photo. Sounds like a lot of work? It is not: Radiant detects the face and requires absolutely no manual masking for all these edits. You don’t have to tell the software where the eyes are or where the mouth is, where the skin is when you want to smoothen it a bit or click onto every single blemish to reduce it. Radiant Photo does all that for you.
Color Grading
Time to get creative! While color correction fixes colors, color grading is the process of editing colors to give them a unique look, a style. To change the mood of the images. It’s where creativity happens in post-processing. This step is completely optional: When you just want a true-to-life result, there is no need for color grading. But when you want to emphasize a certain aspect of the image and make sure the look fits your intended narrative, color grading is the best option. Go for brighter tones at the beach, for saturated colors at a concert at night, for cooler tones when showing a professional environment, for higher contrast to make details in abandoned buildings pop. The options are endless. Many many Color Grading LOOKs are preinstalled with Radiant Photo, those who want more will find an abundance of LOOKs in Radiant Imaging Labs’ Marketplace.
Graduated Filters
The Graduated Filter allows you to make photo adjustments to specific portions of your photos. For example, you can apply a radial gradient – to add stylistic vignettes – or linear gradients, affecting just the top and bottom of the image. There are presets available for a quick start, but users can blend, shape, and place center as they wish. For each gradient, you can define two sets of corrections: inside and outside for radial gradients and top and bottom for linear gradients. Note that you cannot only control exposure with gradients but also aspects like contrast, saturation, shadows, highlights etc.
“Save” Settings & Batch Export
While it might not be the prettiest “Save” dialogue you have seen, it certainly is powerful. How and where should the images be saved? Which size and file format? Bit depth and color space? You decide either for a single image or for a whole bunch of images: Edit multiple images in one session and when you’re done just use “Save all” to export them all at once. Additionally, Radiant Photo features a Smart Batch Export function, enabling users to process multiple images simultaneously while maintaining consistent quality—perfect for professional workflows. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic, allowing batch processing directly from Lightroom catalogs for enhanced efficiency.
Five things not to look for in Radiant Photo
Our goal is to build the best photo enhancer out there. With this clear focus, there are things Radiant Photo can’t do today and will most likely never do. Because we think there is a lot of great software out there for it. And you probably already have a way to do these things.
Raw Conversion
We like Raw. It gives you more options while developing your photo. And while Radiant Photo is not built to be a Raw converter, it can absolutely open most Raw files. Rule of thumb: If your computer can open a file with its default image viewer or provide a preview at the OS level, Radiant Photo should be able to open it. So make sure to keep your OS updated; Windows users install the free Raw Image Extension for more support. BUT, we encourage you to use your current RAW converter or the one that your camera manufacturer provides (they know their files best!). So when you have a Raw workflow already, do the very basic development in your Raw editor (like exposure, shadows and highlights) and then send it into Radiant Photo as a 16-bit TIFF for further editing.
Sky Replacement & Generative AI
Photographers get up in the morning at 3am to catch the sunrise with our camera at that perfect spot which we scouted the day before. We do everything we can to get the exposure right. We take pride in our craft and in our equipment. So, since Radiant Imaging Labs is a company built by photographers, we are not in the business of replacing anything that you created. So while we use AI to analyze your photo and suggest how to develop it, we keep working on YOUR pixels. Making every one of them better. We built Radiant Photo to get you to your final result much faster and with less frustrations. So you can get back to your family. Or go to bed earlier for another round of sunrise shooting.
File Management
You have a big Lightroom catalog? Wonderful, just hand your images directly from there to Radiant Photo and it will save them back so they are shown in a stack next to your originals in Lightroom Classic. You love to organize and explore your photo in Mylio Photos? Wonderful, we do, too! So we are not looking to change your ways of how you handle your digital assets. Radiant Photos simply works on the file level, with no importing of images needed. And with our new sidecar files (see below, “New features”), we provide a completely non-destructive workflow for seamless editing.
Masks and layers
Some people ask us if they can create their own masks and layers in Radiant Photo. The simple answer is: no. Radiant Photo is designed to do all masking and layering for you. It does this intelligently by understanding the contents of your image file so it can adjust different parts of the image differently. So while there are a lot of masks running under the hood, there is no need to do them manually. We want to take the hard work out of editing your photos. And not having to worry about masks is a big step towards that.
HDR, Focus Stacking and Panorama Stitching
There are incredible tools designed specifically for HDR, focus stacking, and panorama stitching—and we use and love them, too. While some may wish for a single piece of software to do it all, the reality is that “jack-of-all-trades” solutions often fall short. At Radiant Imaging Labs, we believe in excelling at what matters most: making your photos look their absolute best. Instead of being a mediocre all-in-one tool, we’ve focused on creating a specialized, powerful solution for photo development that stands out from the crowd. Can I run Radiant Photo as a plug-in?
We don’t want to make users change their workflow. So we decided to make Radiant Photo available as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Corel Paint Shop Pro. In Photoshop, you can even use Radiant Photo as a Smart Layer and work completely non-destructively. From your Lightroom catalogue, you can send files to Radiant Photo for manual edit or trigger a batch processing in the background. The new Radiant versions of your photos will be on top of your image stacks in Lightroom after processing is done.
What are the requirements for my computer to run Radiant Photo?
On our website, there is a detailed list of system requirements. But simply put, if you have a half-decent Mac (Apple M series or Intel Core i5) or Windows (Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen) computer with a minimum of 8 GB of RAM that is five years old, chances are that Radiant Photo will run just fine. Please note that version 2 has the same system requirements as the previous version.
Does it run on my phone?
No and yes. So Radiant Photo for desktop computers does not run on your phone or tablet, it is built for Mac and Windows machines. However, we do have an app that is built on the same tech as our desktop software. Just look for “Radiant: AI Photo & Video Editor” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
What are Looks?
Looks are color recipes. They are a great way to change our picture’s look completely. While Develop settings adjust the Develop controls (like Exposure, Super Contrast, Depth), Looks take care of Color Grading: They remap the colors and tone. These adjustments are independent of the other controls inside Radiant Photo. Radiant Photo comes with a huge set of pre-installed Looks, including black-and-white. Additional Looks can be purchased in Radiant Imaging Lab’s Marketplace.
What happens to Presets and LOOKs purchased for Radiant Photo V1?
All Presets and LOOKs will convert into version 2 after you installed it. So you won’t lose anything that you bought previously. One thing to keep in mind though: The old Presets are replaced by our new Develop Collections in version 2. So the Presets section is marked as “Legacy” from now on. We suggest you take the time to pull up your favorite Presets one by one, maybe tweak them a little bit and save them as a new Develop Collection. When you do that they can also take advantage of our intelligent scene detection and Assistive AI enhancements. The handling of LOOKs has not changed. They are available under “Color Grading”—which is not a separate tab anymore but can now be found in the Develop Panel on the right side of Radant Photo’s interface.
Why do I have to pay extra for the new Workflows?
The new specialized optional Workflows—landscape, portraiture, birds, pets— come at an additional cost. While Radiant Photo 2’s abilities have been widely expanded, these Workflows are true add-ons. They are made for those users who are deep into one genre of photography. We have trained Radiant Photo to differentiate between different animals, types of birds and backgrounds, the different types of landscapes and cityscape at different hours of the day, to recognize deserts and waterfalls. To be clear: We have not taken any functionality out of V2 to sell the Workflows separately. And we aimed to set a very fair price for them, way below what creators of Lightroom Presets charge—and those have no scene detection and intelligent adjustments tailored to your specific image in them. With Radiant Photo’s Workflows you supercharge your photo editing with more precision, speed and time on your hands to do other stuff. Discounted packages for upgrading users and those who want them all will be available (see “Pricing” below).
